OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next Nord-series smartphone, expected to be called the OnePlus Nord 5, as the successor to last year’s Nord 4. The upcoming device is generating significant buzz ahead of its official debut, with leaks and certifications shedding light on its design, core hardware, and positioning. While nothing is confirmed officially yet, the available information paints a fairly detailed picture of what users can expect.
The OnePlus Nord 5 is widely speculated to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition, a China-exclusive device expected to launch this month. This strategy aligns with OnePlus’ previous practice of repurposing Ace models for international markets under the Nord branding. The Racing Edition variant is rumored to debut with MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400e chipset. It appears that the Nord 5 will follow suit and pack the same silicon under its hood.
The Dimensity 9400e is said to be derived from the more powerful 9400+, possibly offering improved efficiency or lower thermal output while still providing a significant performance boost over the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 used in the Nord 4. If true, this move could position the Nord 5 as a capable mid-range performer.
